Olivia Palermo | celebrity wedding gowns

According to her site, “Olivia looked effortlessly stunning as she personified bridal bliss while wearing three elegant pieces all by wedding designer favorite, Carolina Herrera. The fashion guru created the look for her special day by styling a simple cream cashmere sweater with scattered ostrich feathers and chic white shorts with a full tulle skirt overlay that cinched at the waist in layers of satin and silk and featured a high slit in the front with floral details along the hem.  Her hair and makeup were kept easy and sophisticated as her hair was pulled back and up in her signature centered-part pony-tail and natural-looking makeup provided a soft romantic touch complimenting the simplicity of the day itself.”

Kim Kardashian | celebrity wedding gown

Kim Kardashian looked absolutely beautiful in a custom-made, haute couture creation by the couple’s close friend, Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci

Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of Givenchy, who designed Kim’s wedding dress also created for Ricci, a stunning and sophisticated gown with sheer, lace sleeves and cutouts at the shoulders to add enough flare to a delicate, ethereal look. The dress was comprised of white silk tulle, Chantilly lace, embroidered pearls, and satin. The lighting in one photo captured the Addams Family star’s gorgeous, sheer, lace veil that cascaded from her side bun to her legs. Hmmmm…it seems Tisci is an icon for celebrity wedding gowns.

We had to feature Nigerian celebrities on this list, especially those ones who stunned us all. One of the many others that would still feature on this list is our own dear Steph. Her wedding dress was inspired by the idea of a royal fairy tale wedding, her gorgeous sweeping skirt and dramatic veil by “Euterpe” by Elie Saab is something you might want to emulate.

Clarkson’s Temperley Bridal “Jessamine” wedding dress had clean lines that skimmed her shape. Silvery floral appliqués accented the romantic lace overlay and the sleeves had covered buttons at the wrist. Though the dress was modest, deep V necklines at the front and back framed her face and highlighted her blonde updo, which was accented by a jeweled Maria Elena headpiece.

The American model wore a total of three Vera Wang dresses on her big day, but we chose to showcase this one. Ahead of her wedding, the American model told E! News that she couldn’t stop buying Vera Wang’s gowns. “Every time I went in for a fitting, I couldn’t stop getting one,” she explained. “It’s just too pretty.”

Just beautiful, isn’t it??

Wedding Jonathan

Back to Nigeria, we feature Faith Sakwe as part of the Nigerians who made our Top 20 celebrity wedding gowns list. Faith is the daughter of Nigeria’s Ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan. She got married to Godswill Edward in a jaw-dropping embellished long train gown that will totally knock any man off his feet with crystal embellishment and that very long cathedral frilly train!

English designer Sarah Burton, creative director of the luxury fashion house Alexander McQueen, designed the bridal gown worn by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, at her wedding to Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, on 29 April 2011.

Hilary wore a ‘mermaid’ style gown that was embellished by hand. “A mermaid shape clearly articulates the curves of the body. Ideal for an afternoon or an evening wedding, it also suits many body types; elongating on small women and extremely flattering on full body shapes,” says Vera, the designer.

Singer (and mother-to-be at that time) Alicia Keys glided down the aisle in an ivory silk, Grecian-inspired gown designed by Wang for her Mediterranean wedding to mega-producer Swizz Beatz. The Grammy winner set off the jewel detail on her back shoulder with crystal-encrusted flat sandals — an elegant headband and a bouquet of purple calla lillies completed her modern goddess look.

Wedding Vanessa

Popular PR Guru Vanessa Amadi got married to her beau Oki on Saturday, the 28th of September 2013 in a mermaid silhouette ‘Gemma’ dress by Vera Wang. It pleases our eyes to see that she accentuated her waist with a crystal sash and can’t get over her long tulle veil. Aren’t you wowed by this?

Jada Pinkett Smith was pregnant when she married Will Smith. The actress wore a modest gown designed by Badgley Mischka to conceal her growing bump. The champagne-coloured dress had a high neck and long sleeves and was constructed from hand-dyed silk and velvet.

Megan Fox wore a very simple flowing chiffon Giorgio Armani Privé gown and was bare foot for her beach wedding to actor Brian Austin Green. The dress had a flattering strapless sweetheart neckline, a 16-foot train and floor-length veil.
Appropriate for a beach wedding, the young actress kept her beauty routine fairly natural as well, with barely-there sun-kissed makeup and her trademark dark brown locks worn straight and loose.

Gwen Stefani is known for her kooky and creative fashion choices and for her big day she clearly wanted her dress to stand out from the rest.  All eyes were most certainly on Gwen as she walked down the aisle in a unique hot pink and cream ombre couture wedding gown designed by John Galliano. We love it!

Popular songstress, Tiwa Savage got married to Tunji Balogun in a unique Vera Wang dress. Her gown is absolutely worth dying for with the snow white tiers and splendid veil!

It wasn’t her first wedding, nor would it be her last, but Jennifer Lopez’s nuptials with dancer-choreographer Cris Judd have been her most lavish. The blushing bride wore an off-white silk and Chantilly-lace gown, cut low both in front and back, designed by Valentino Couture.

Britney Spears has donned a few wedding dresses in her time, for her video Hold It Against Me, for her infamous MTV appearance where she snogged Madonna and on Pop Magazine’s front cover in 2010. But Britney’s best bridal look was at her wedding to Kevin Federline. The pop star wanted to be a princess on her big day and she certainly looked it in a $26,000 Monique Lhuillier strapless silk gown with a hand sewn train, cathedral length veil and matching half-gloves.

Celine Dion ensured she looked unique on her wedding day by donning a seven-pound Swavorski crystal tiara that had to be sewn (yes sewn!) onto her head.  Her dress also took the definition of diva to entirely new heights as it required over 1,000 hours of sewing to complete the Mirella and Steve Gentile silk creation and 20-foot train.

Valued at $12,000 (equivalent to $41,000 today), the stunning gown, which was designed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel, was made of ivory silk taffeta and embellished with lace, hand embroidery, sequins and 10,000 pearls. The epic train was made of ivory taffeta and antique lace. (The lace used to trim the dress had belonged to Queen Mary.) She topped her bridal look off with the Spencer family heirloom tiara.

Wedding toke

OAP, Toke Makinwa got married to the love of her life in a highly remarkable yet simple wedding gown by ‘April by Kunbi’. She was a sight to see in a gorgeous lace and satin custom dress made by her designer friend, Kunbi Oyelese, inspired by a dress from Berta Bridal Creations’ 2014 winter collection.

That’s it for this week on Celebrity wedding gowns, twenty-one of them actually. Did we miss out on any fabulous one, please let us know in the comments section.
