Nicki Minaj has revealed that one day, once her empire has reached even greater astronomical heights, she may walk away from the limelight to start a family. In just a few years Minaj has not only taken the charts by storm but starred in top box office movies, served as a judge on American Idol and has built so many different enterprises that we wouldn’t know where to start counting. But she says that while her rise to the top has been one heck of a ride, one day she plans to pack it all in to have children.
In the October issue of L’Uomo Vogue, the Anaconda hitmaker revealed that: “I don’t want to work my whole life without ever experiencing the joys of a family,” the 31-year-old star told the magazine. “I would like to take a hiatus and dedicate myself completely to my child.” But don’t panic just yet, she’s still got loads more to tick off her bucket-list as she gears up to release her third studio album, her latest weapon against the male-dominated industry.
Females in rap are far and few between, and Nicki explained that finding her feet in the music business was tough. “At first, no one took me seriously,” she says. “In the world of rap, women are usually relegated to the choir. I want to build my empire. In my field, I have always seen men do it-from Diddy to Dr. Dre to Jay-Z. Now it’s a woman’s turn.”
So who could have possibly inspired Nicki’s broodiness? Goddess Beyonce of course, who recently collaborated with the rapper for the their remix of Bey’s smash Flawless The pair performed the track on the final show of Jayonce’s On The Run tour last month and Nicki says that while hanging out with the Carters she realised that juggling a career and a family really is possible. She recalled: “Seeing Beyoncé with her daughter and husband was so tender. It showed me that it is possible to be an animal on stage and a caring mother at the same time.”
But the 31-year-old insists that she wants to wait until she has a bit more spare time on her hands, telling the mag: “Family has always been very important to me, and that is why I want to wait until the right moment before starting my own. Right now I am too busy, but at a certain point the situation will change.”
