This woman may be the oldest woman in the whole of Scotland, but it seems like she talks more sense than most people who are a lot younger than her. She’s basically said that in order to live a longer, healthier life, you need to avoid ALL men and just eat a big bowl of porridge for breakfast. Sounds good to us!
Obviously not all men cause drama (ahem), but Jessie Gallan has said that she’s never gotten married and still managed to live an incredibly healthy life. In fact, she’s still managing to potter around and do things that someone half her age would be doing. Could this actually be the best advice we’ve heard in years?
“My secret to a long life has been staying away from men,” Gallan told the Daily Mail. “They’re just more trouble than they’re worth.” She’s making sense so far…
“I also made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning, and have never gotten married,” she then added.
Whole grains and a drama free life? SOLD.
Jessie has followed her own wise words her entire life and at the grand old age of 109, she’s still managing to do things that 50-year-olds probably find pretty difficult these days. She goes to concerts, still goes to church every Sunday and all in all, leads an incredibly healthy lifestyle.
And just because this is quite possibly the cutest lady in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD, let’s find out a little bit more about her life. She said that she slept top-to-tail with her five sisters and one brother, on a straw-filled mattress. She then left home at 13 to become a milkmaid, before then becoming a farm kitchen helper and working a hotel, that was actually visited by the Queen!
“I always worked hard and seldom would I ever take a holiday. I left home when I was 13 and began a job milking cows,” she also said in the interview. “I always had good jobs with very nice people. It’s amazing to see how completely different the world is now from the one I grew up in.”
Jessie became Scotland’s oldest woman after Glasgow’s Clare Dawson died at the age of 109 in June 2013.
